5 Things You Didn't Know About Reliance Jio

5 Things You Didn't Know About Reliance Jio

At the Reliance Annual General Meeting this morning, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance, officially announced the launch of Reliance Jio. It is meant to be a premium data service available to people at low costs. While all the flamboyant and customer-delighting offers are breaking the internet, let us take a look at the lesser known things about Reliance Jio:

  1. They look to partner with digital entrepreneurs

Reliance Jio is going to clear the way for young companies and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the platform they are building. This will not only accelerate their growth, but will also give them opportunities to form strategic partnerships.

This initiative will push the power of data even further, and will offer data speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second: Mukesh Ambani
We also have plans to partner with thousands of Indian entrepreneurs, whose digital ventures can bloom in the ground that Jio is preparing

  1. Reliance Jio was called IBSL

Soon after the broadband wireless auction (BWA), in June 2010, RIL bought a 96% stake in Infotel Broadband, which had won 22 circles in the BWA. Although they were unlisted, they were worth over Rs 4,800cr, and were the only company to gain broadband spectrum in all 22 zones of India. They started to work as a telecom subsidiary of Reliance, and later in January 2013, they were named Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.
  1. Jio was supposed to be launched in 2015

RIL initially planned on launching their Jio services towards the latter half of 2015, but could only reach a beta launch, which was kickstarted by Shah Rukh Khan on the December 27, 2015 in Navi Mumbai. The employees of Jio and their families were made to use the services for testing purposes, and it is now open to the masses after many reforms and changes.
  1. For the young, by the young

With 60,000 employees onboard, Jio boasts of a population of young minds working towards building the best data service that there is going to be in the country. The average age of employees at Jio is 30.

For this, we have created a Jio  Startup Fund and are also working to create Digital Entrepreneurship Hubs in key cities, owns
I stand before you as a very proud leader of over 60,000 Jio employees across India. Average age at  is 30 years: Mukesh Ambani

  1. LTE enabled smartphones are on their way

We all know that RIL is going to use (Long Term Evolution) LTE technology, but not all phones are going to be able to support it. RIL joined hands with Intex in June 2015 for the supply of 4G-enabled handsets with the Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) feature for better use of Jio services. January 2016 also witnessed the launch of RIL’s own line of smartphones under the brand name of LYF. So far, we have seen models like Water 1, Water 2, Earth 1 and Flame 1.
While we are eagerly waiting for Jio to disrupt the industry and solve all the data problems that there are prevalent in the country, we would like to know what your expectations are from this product. Let us know in the comments section below.

Reliance Jio Launched Pan-India

reliance jio

HIGHLIGHTS
·         Reliance Jio was launched pan-India on Thursday
·         The only-4G network data tariffs start from just Rs. 19
·         The biggest highlight is 'free calling' service across India

Outside a tiny Reliance store in a trendy Mumbai neighbourhood, residents queued for hours this week for a new SIM card promising free data - and a dramatic reshaping of the Indian mobile landscape.
Mukesh Ambani, India's richest man, announced his long-awaited Reliance Jio 4G network with an audacious free service for the rest of 2016, followed by vastly cheaper data plans and free voice calls for life.
Anticipating the shake-up, rival Airtel has already slashed 3G and 4G prices by up to 80 percent while Vodafone has heaped more data into its prepaid tariffs.
Yet analysts say competitors will struggle to match the deep pockets of a startup backed by Reliance Industries, the energy-to-chemicals conglomerate.
"I am hoping Jio can help me bring down my bills while providing unlimited internet usage," said Pushpraj Yadav, an e-commerce worker in Mumbai who complains he "incurs huge bills" for his data use.
"Competition between Jio and other networks like Airtel is good for consumers."
India's mobile market is plagued by patchy reception, frequent call drops, erratic pricing and 3G Internet speeds that fluctuate wildly.
"With Reliance Jio, I expect the data charges to be low and the connectivity to be better than other networks," said Amit Biswas, an Indian navy officer in Mumbai.
"Mobile connectivity in some parts of the country is really bad."
With his $20 billion (roughly Rs. 1,32,700 crores) investment in mobile, Ambani is betting on a fast-evolving Internet landscape in a country where nearly a billion people are still not online.
'Change the dynamics'
Public Wi-Fi is scarce and broadband access is weak, with many rural areas lacking the infrastructure to deliver high speeds.
Most of the hundreds of millions of Indians coming online over the next decade will start with smartphones, something being avidly targeted by tech giants Google and Facebook.
Ambani hopes to win over those who have never had an Internet connection and for whom mobile data was previously unthinkably expensive, with a high-speed 4G covering 90 percent of India by March 2017.
